Hi! Anyone here know when the next horn dance is in the midlands....dates are always fuzzy for this annual bash as they depend upon the moon or somesuch.... Or have I stumbled upon a US only tribe here? Redirections also greatfully recieved....

Mon, October 30, 2006 - 12:52 PMThe group isn't US only, but we don't have a lot of folks here from the other side of the pond. -

Re: English Folk?
Mon, February 5, 2007 - 10:36 AMI'm no Brit, but I do have the honour of getting sent a copy of Hedingham Fair's Calendar of Traditional Customs every year by a friend I met the last time my side went dancing in the UK.
www.hedinghamfair.co.uk/
My February calendar page says nothing about horn dancing, but the following is mentioned:
Feb 16-18 weekend: St. Valentines Folk Festival, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands 15th-18th (0121 308 5512)
You can get your own calendar at the website above -- I like the art and all the reminders of the traditional events, even if I'm thousands of miles away.
Cheers!

Re: English Folk?
Thu, April 5, 2007 - 10:32 AMAbbots Bromley Horn Dance takes place on Wakes Monday, the day following Wakes Sunday, which is the first Sunday after September 4. In practice, this means that it is the Monday dated between September 6 and September 12 (inclusive).
The national press often get the date wrong, assuming that it's the first Monday in September. I think it's the 10th September this year. -
